Our story
Growing up on a homestead and being involved in farming has always felt natural to me. Even though my main business keeps me busy, this lifestyle is what I find normal. When we’re not traveling, we’re working on projects to improve our homestead over time. Each year, we focus on a major project, making it better and better.
While Marcus didn’t start out as a farmer, he’s embraced the lifestyle since he came into our lives. Together, we added sheep to our homestead and welcomed our dogs, Jeb and Zelda. Marcus is the driving force behind many of the improvements we’ve made, and I believe he can now be considered a homesteader in his own right.
About Us
We are hobby homesteaders, animal lovers, foodies and entrepreneurs. We currently have a number of ducks that call the pond home, several egg layer chickens that produce a variety of beautifully colored eggs and a pheasant who is waiting for us to build his new aviary and get him a girlfriend. We also have 5 sheep: Rambo, Agnus, Ellie Mae, Nona and Ivy whose hobbies include loudly greeting guests, helping mow the property and eating decorative flowers. Our dogs Jeb (Maremma sheep dog) and Zelda (Dalmation) are a joint task force protecting everyone and excitedly greeting guest. Everest the black and white cat rounds out the outdoor gang, he joins us on our walks with the sheep and the dogs – it’s kind of a spectacle.
Who is Bella
People often ask “Who is Bella?”. Bella was a very special animal and one of the first (besides the ducks and cats) on the homestead. She was a young cow who was abandoned by her mother and therefore bottle fed and doted on by my brother’s children. All that attention made her incredibly tame and my coffee companion during my shifts watching my mother on home hospice. I bought her from my brother and took her home from his small beef farm to live out her days as a pet. Unfortunately, Bella met an early demise falling through the ice on the pond. We memorialize her by naming the homestead and farm brand after her.
